This Privacy Policy describes how Spanish Coach ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Spanish Coach mobile application (the "App").

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information — If you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Apple, we receive only the information Apple shares with us (typically an anonymised email address).
  • Learning data — Your lesson progress, vocabulary lists, quiz scores, streaks, and in-app settings are stored to personalise your experience and sync across devices.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data — We collect anonymous data about how you use the App, such as which features you use, how long sessions last, and which lessons are completed. This helps us improve the App.
  • Device information — We may collect your device type, operating system version, and app version for diagnostic purposes.
  • Crash reports — If the App crashes, an anonymised crash report is sent to help us identify and fix bugs.

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your precise location.
  • We do not access your contacts, camera, or microphone without explicit in-app permission (microphone is used only for speaking exercises, with your consent).
  • We do not collect or store voice recordings beyond the immediate speaking exercise session.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and improve the App
  • Sync your progress across your devices
  • Personalise your learning experience
  • Send optional push notifications (you can disable these in your device settings)
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Understand how users interact with the App so we can improve it

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers — Third-party companies that help us operate the App (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics). These providers are contractually required to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.
  • Apple — As required to operate in-app purchases and subscriptions through the App Store.
  • Legal requirements — If required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Data Retention

We retain your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict how we process your data

Children's Privacy

Spanish Coach is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you in-app or by email.
